International Cooperation  

Formerly known as Tourist Hotel Worker School, Hanoi Tourism College was founded on July 24, 1972 as the first national school to offer training in the tourism industry. The College provides professional training in all areas of hospitality and tourism from entry level positions through to management, as well as conducting research and providing advice in the area of socioeconomic development for the tourism industry. Since its foundation, Hanoi Tourism College has gained a reputation as a leader in providing training for this industry. The College continues to provide its students with solid industry knowledge, strong professional skills, foreign language skills and pride in Vietnam’s growing tourism industry.

Hanoi Tourism College provides students with the opportunity to participate in international competitions including ASEAN and world skills contests. The high results achieved at such competitions demonstrate the professional training provided by the school. Many of the teaching staff have been trained abroad and hold high level qualifications in industry related fields.

In order to remain a leader in a competitive market, Hanoi Tourism College has taken the initiative in expanding its range of activities by strengthening its domestic and international corporate relations, employing teachers with suitable qualifications and ability to provide graduate training and professional development courses abroad. The College has a policy on attraction foreign students to come and study at the College in specific subjects such as tour guiding in Vietnamese, Vietnamese dishes and Vietnamese culture. To improve methods the training quality, the College has invited experts and lecturers from famous tourism training institutions from Vietnam and overseas to come as guest lecturers, exchange curriculums and take the initiative in contacting and arranging jobs for students before graduation by entering into labor supply contracts with domestic and foreign businesses.

And so as to move forwards as a leader in training, Hanoi Tourism College continues to expand its ties and partnerships with foreign institutions in an effort to advance tourism and hotel skills. The College has established corporate relations with many institutions around the globe : SHATEC (Singapore) ; HTTI (Thailand); Hunan University, Guilin University of Technology, Guilin Institute of Tourism, Quangxi Normal University (China); I SHOU University (China-Taiwan) Tokushima University (Japan); LIEGE, Arthur Haulot Institute, Charlemagne College (Belgium); Budapest Business School (Hungary), Spott-Shaw community college - CIBT Education Group (Canada); City College of Plymouth (UK); Nigra (US); etc. The College is a member of the Executive Committee of the Asia – Pacific Education training Institutions in Tourism Network (APETIT), which was founded by the Asia – Pacific Economics and Social Committee of the United Nations (UNESCAP). Within the framework of the network’s activities, the College has many opportunities for building international relations in the field of tourism education and training with over 200 member schools in 42 countries in the region.
